Newman’s Wreck

Ryan Blaney swerved low to get around Ryan Newman on the last lap of the Daytona 500. Newman blocked him, and Blaney said he committed to pushing Newman – a fellow Ford driver – to the win. But the delicate maneuver went wrong at nearly 200 mph, as the contact made Newman’s car angle into traffic, leading to the most violent wreck at Daytona since Dale Earnhardt’s death in 2001.
