Residents of Indonesia’s capital city Jakarta were treated to a spectacular astronomical event, a stunning view of the last solar eclipse of the decade on the day after Christmas, on Thursday.
A group of local photographers gathered around central Jakarta, took out their cameras, and captured the annular eclipse through their lenses, with some of the people trying to get a glimpse of the eclipse reflected in water fountains.
The annular eclipse also referred to as the ‘ring of fire’ is an astronomical phenomenon that happens when the moon does not obscure the sun completely. The eclipse was visible throughout several other countries in South East Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
