Hurricane Sally made landfall Wednesday morning near Gulf Shores, Alabama, as a Category 2 storm, bringing torrential rain over a coastal storm surge that forecasters said would cause dangerous floods from the Florida Panhandle to Mississippi. (Sept. 16)
