Failed weapons systems cost Pentagon $58 billion over two decades

The Pentagon’s spent an eyewatering 58 billion dollars on failed weapons programmes in the past 20 years alone, it’s admitted in a new report. It cites 23 programmes cancelled after billions had already been spent. Among them is something called Future Combat Systems, which didn’t meet strategy requirements. A reconnaisance and attack helicopter was also scrapped as ineffective and too costly. Meanwhile, a so-called Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle was withdrawn due to budget cuts.
