A-Level examinations cancelled across the UK as grades were based on teachers’ predictions. They were then adjusted on the basis of a school’s overall track-record. This led to 39% of A-Level results being downgraded from the predictions. State schools, especially from poorer regions, were disproportionately affected by the downgrade with private schools enjoying a boom in high marks. The whole fiasco has sparked student protests across England.
