Random Movement – In Space, No One Can Hear You Funk

Available here: http://S.P.Y.lnk.to/HospitalMixtapeyb

Our artist led Hospital Mixtape series continues! Over the years, S.P.Y has become one of the most well-respected producers and DJs in the game with an astute ear for the crispest, deepest and darkest drum & bass.

S.P.Y’s sets are consistently crammed with the highest quality selections, which hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2015 he was chosen to present the prestigious BBC Radio 1 Essential mix for Pete Tong and subsequently joined Annie Mac at her BBC Radio 1 stage at Glastonbury Festival.

A DJ in high demand, S.P.Y has spent the last year touring the globe from USA to Canada, Australia to New Zealand. Last summer he took to the stage at Bestival, Sun & Bass, EDC and Tomorrow World! Yet around his crowded schedule he’s found the time to delve deep in his record box and pull together 31 standout tracks of the moment.

He’s got his hands dirty getting hold of 15 previously unreleased tracks from the likes of Logistics, Dub Elements, Anile, Whiney and Random Movement. His hard work continues with three brand new S.P.Y productions ‘Take Control’, ‘Second Encounter’ and ‘Silent Wave’. He’s given a helping hand to brother Unreal featuring on his fire-fuelled track ‘Enduro’ and a got his head down to produce a Jungle VIP of BCee’s – ‘Back To The Street’.

S.P.Y’s been in hot demand for his remixing skills in the past year with his (Not So Glittery) Sigma remix hitting the BBC Radio 1Xtra playlist for a huge six weeks running. He’s done it again with four fresh reworks of: TC – ‘Rep’ ft Jakes, London Elektricity – ‘Why Are We Here?’, Fred V & Grafix – ‘Ultraviolet’ and and Digital – ‘Deadline’. Hidden amidst the track-list is an amen-break laced gem from Med School’s Etherwood, he’s taken on S.P.Y’s epic ‘What The Future Holds’.

This year’s edition of the Hospital Mixtape tears out in true S.P.Y fashion, a midnight ride of filthy switch-ups and flawless transitions; one for the warehouse warriors.

Become a fan of Agressor Bunx:

The return of Program has been eagerly awaited. One of the most defining sister-labels that has cemented a name for itself against its colossal counterpart, Program’s hiatus has led to the secret expansion of its discography. One that’s about to be unleashed on the masses, after biding its time. And Aggressor Bunx deliver a four-track EP to reinstate both their name and the imprint’s… The producers have withstood the baying competition of new recruits to become a household name in their own right.

Reintroducing you to the gritty, no-apologies assault of Program’s output, up first is title-track ‘Colony’. Creepy, horror-like samples intertwine with boding snare, dragging you forward on top of steely drums. You’re given a brief moment of respite before you crash inside another unfamiliar break pattern, a feature Aggressor Bunx are renowned for.

‘Dizballance’ and ‘Time Shift’ roll out next. ‘Dizballance’ takes you down a techier route, with elevating note patterns and a madly fluctuating bassline, made stockier by pumping subs. Kick-drum bolsters the composition, creating a seemingly intricate but no less heavy fresh piece of sonic artwork.

On the other hand, ‘Time Shift’ offers up a different take on their signature production standards. Riding along a more ethereal intro, you’re opened to a deeper version of their repertoire. Ragga vocal snips drop you into distorted anarchy, amongst clinking hi-hats and wavering synth. It’s murkier than its predecessors, gradually building with each segment.

And lastly, comes ‘Hottah’. Each layer grows more and more indignant, filled with cascading drops and peddled drums ricocheting throughout the mix. It serves as the perfect finish, yet again demonstrating a commitment to a dark, fiercely intimate craftsmanship which has made the producer so notorious.

So once again… it’s time to get with the Program. One that’s here to stay.

Interview Jack Cole from LEAP – NYC Cannabis Parade 2016

Cannabis News Network filmed during the 2016 edition of the NYC Cannabis Parade, which took place on the 7th of May. One of the interviews that touched us the most is this one, with LEAP co-founder Jack Cole.

Our interview with LEAP co-founder Jack Cole

“We need to make this drug legal, so we can stop sacrificing millions of our children on this altar of the drug war, arresting them for marijuana violations, doing everything we can do to destroy their lives. We want to help these young folks. And legalization is the way to go about it.” Cole said.

Founded on March 16, 2002, LEAP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization made up of current and former members of the law enforcement and criminal justice communities who are speaking out about the failures of our existing drug policies. Cole retired as a Detective Lieutenant after a 26-year career with the New Jersey State Police—fourteen in narcotics, mostly as an undercover officer.

Cole made clear it is still necessary to organize the event.

“Since 1970 [the start of the war on drugs, ed.] we have made over 50 million arrests for non-violent drug offences. Some countries don’t even have 50 million people!”, he says.

Furthermore, he adds:

“We [LEAP] understand that today our law enforcement people spend so much time chasing a bunch of non-violent drug users that we no longer have time to solve or prevent major crimes: rape, robbery, murders. We want to get back to what we do best: protecting you from me and me from someone else. That should be the job of police in this country. Our job should never be to try to protect every adult being from themselves, by saying what they can put in their bodies.”

Pola & Bryson – Open My Eyes ft. MVE (Mitekiss Remix)

Buy: http://apple.co/1TxwnTk

We’re pleased to announce SV022, ‘Open My Eyes ft. MVE’ – the first single from Pola & Bryson’s long-awaited debut album entitled ‘This Time Last Year’. Having dropped their stellar ‘The Music EP’ on Soulvent back in April 2015, the boys have rapidly received a tonne of support from some of the big players in the Drum & Bass scene. With releases forthcoming on Liquicity Records and Spearhead to name but a few, and ‘Bad Habit’ becoming a staple in many a DJs set over the year, it was clear that an album was the next logical step.

A true taste of the forthcoming album, Pola & Bryson showcase their ever-emerging production style in this first album cut. The track opens with airy, shimmering pads, backed by a smooth rimshot break, hinting at breathy vocals. Smooth chords lead us into a gorgeous summer roller, with Dutch talent, MVE’s soft vocal tones floating nicely above the composition.

Mitekiss takes the original on an even more chilled out journey. Stripping the original back to its simplest form with a sprinkling of light liquid style drums and warming sub bass.
