Tobax – Blessed

This is truly blessed music 🙏🙌 from one of our favourite Russian newcomers (Alex) Tobax! This style of neuro is quite similar to what he was able to pull off with “Lockdown” (which I also featured on here) and fittingly, it is also on Titan. I know for a fact that Tobax has musical style besides what we hear on Titan but lets hope that he goes back to this awesome thrashing sound every time he decides to output stuff into the neurofunk universe. This is the B side of his second single called “Orbital Cold / Blessed” (2016).

Weapons Grade is a channel for uploading only the most forward thinking and stomping underground neurofunk. I will try my best to promote only the truly under-appreciated tunes that go lesser heard. Uploads will probably be daily, or possibly even more frequently. Every track featured here has been purchased from the respective label, and is in 320 kbps (MP3) quality before upload. All artwork in every video is from http://www.wallhaven.cc/ unless otherwise stated! I won’t feature any track on this channel that isn’t advanced neurofunk and I will never monetize a video. This channel is purely for your entertainment and discovery, and for my hobby. I hope you guys enjoy thoroughly!

If there is a problem with any of the tracks uploaded, please consult with me by my email (found on my channel under “For business enquiries”). I will take necessary measures to make content owners satisfied with the state of their track, whether it be on the channel or not. If you wish to submit a track for possible upload, please send it to me via the same email.

Tantrum Desire – Anarchist (ft. Rhymestar)

Buy: http://btprt.dj/23eGqOi

The Tantrum Desire brand is most associated with the kind of epic productions that have seen drum and bass become a mainstay of the mainstream. True heads, though, will know that there’s always been an undercurrent of genre-twisting experimentalism present, which came to the fore on last year’s huge album Diversified. So, which corners are explored on this EP?

If you didn’t know about Tantrum Desire’s versatility then you should have been paying closer attention. Don’t worry, though, because this EP is a perfect representation of the serpentine rule-bending contained within the sound. It’s all dancefloor music, but beyond that, anything’s possible

Break – Groundwork 2007

Scene veteran Break is in the spotlight tonight with a track from his self titled debut (album? mixtape? compilation?) which was put out by Commercial Suicide in 2011. If you don’t know who Break is than you should not be on this channel right now. Left For Dead: Myanmar’s Muslim Minority (Trailer)

In recent years, democratic reforms have swept through Myanmar, a country that for decades was ruled by a military junta. As the reforms took hold, however, things were growing progressively worse for the Rohingya, a heavily persecuted ethnic Muslim minority concentrated in the country’s western state of Rakhine.

The 2012 gang rape and murder of a Buddhist woman by three Muslim men ignited violent riots in which hundreds were killed as Rakhine Buddhists and Rohingya attacked each other. In the following months, tens of thousands of Rohingya were rounded up and forced to live in squalid camps; Human Rights Watch deemed the attacks crimes against humanity that amounted to ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya. Thousands of Rohingya have since attempted to leave the country, fueling the region’s intricate and brutal human trafficking network.

VICE News traveled to Myanmar to investigate the violence and discrimination faced by the country’s Muslim minority.

Shield – Fools

Released 6th May.

Ivy Lab’s 20/20 LDN label release their second EP of 2016, a four track love letter to hip hop by rising Copenhagen producer Shield.

“This EP is the definition of what I love about bass driven music: tight percussion, stereo wide basslines and progressive variations to keep the audience amused. Hip hop has been a major influence in all my productions in general and for this release, I really wanted to make four different flavours that captures the atmosphere from the hip hop I love”.

Shield His intuitive relationship with the drums stems from a Masters degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, playing classical percussion. Inspiration comes from a wide selection of electronic artists and classical composition, with all blending together in his productions. While a lot of the sound effects and percussion used in his tracks are recorded in his homestudio, his profession as a percussionist in The Royal Danish Navy Band has sometimes forced him to finish his tracks on the bus while touring Europe.

His breakout track ‘Horror Movie’ caught the attention of Ivy Lab who played it on their Critical Sound show on Rinse FM. The track was also supported by Noisia on their weekly podcast also making their Favourites Of 2015 tracklist.

With support including Hype, Skeptical and Alix Perez for the innovative 28 year old Scandinavian’s productions, the future is looking bright as he continues to develop his own sound across hip hop and drum & bass.

Maduk – Got Me Thinking (feat. Veela)

Buy Here: https://maduk.lnk.to/NeverGiveUpyb

A name that’s been on everyone’s lips, Maduk is leading the way for the next generation of drum & bass producers, bouncing around Europe with his uplifting, high-energy productions. Signing exclusively to Hospital Records in 2015 cleared the path to complete his highly anticipated debut album.

Twelve colourful tracks make up the spirit-raising ‘Never Give Up’ LP – a guaranteed mood-lifter that’ll have crowds up on their feet world over.

As the title track would suggest Maduk’s story is of sheer determination, with hard work and passion for the music he’s gained a dedicated following that have become like family. His LP premiere pushes positivity with a wash of vocal lead tracks. The lively, feel-good vibrations of ‘Just Be Good’ (featuring Nymfo) and ‘One Last Picture’ (featuring Kye Sones) fit with the frenzy of animated elevations in ‘Got Me Thinking’ (featuring Veela) and ‘Nothing More’.

He continues to liberate the senses with the shimmering sounds of ‘One Way’ and drives forward with warm guitar strums on standout track ‘The End’ (featuring Voicians). The ‘Never Give Up’ LP also includes his previously popular single ‘Not Alone’ and Logistics collaboration ‘Solarize’.

As a co-founder of YouTube phenomenon turned record label Liquicity and with ‘Best Newcomer DJ’ and ‘Best Newcomer Producer’ awards under his belt Maduk has played a huge part in igniting the fire for a growing movement of liquid drum & bass lover. Now reaching across the globe his force is set to continue with the release of ‘Never Give Up’ this April.

With the huge success of their All or Nothing LP laying in the backdrop, Calyx & Teebee are about to take the title place yet again and with the full throttle forces of pounding basslines and meticulously constructed mechanics. But what else could you expect from two revered veterans of the genre, whose joint muscle has telescoped the competition in comparison.

However, it’s not just their duteous workmanship and forty years of expeirence that makes their forthcoming ‘1×1’ album so undeniably huge. In tracks like ‘Nothing Left’ Larry Con’s vocals lead you by the hand into all-out anarchy. Revving between each break, your picked up and dropped by verbal crescendos. Angry, yet innovative and impressively intricate, Calyx & Teebee have raised expectations even higher.

And then comes ‘Stray Bullet’, a minefield of drum patterns and wavering note arpeggios. A steppy riddim which completely envelops the sense, each segment explodes on impact. Sliced and diced by invasive samples, you’re unable to resist; plunging you deep into the mix, the slowly building drop pushes you into a freefall of plucky subs and jittering percussion.

‘Ghetto’ rolls out as another new number, again featuring the vocal talents of Doctor; it’s a gritty, sharp and pumping with shaking subs; a conundrum of hi-hats and aggressive drum patterns. Pounding pads take you towards a colossal break, juxtaposing perfectly against the LPs softer touches.

Having already hit the number one spot on the Beatport drum & bass chart with both singles ‘A Day That Never Comes’, ‘Long Gone’ and ‘Cloud 9’, it’s quite clear to see why the anticipation is almost unbearable. Also including the infamous collaboration with Doctor on ‘Where We Go’, brand new, female-lead vocal ‘track ‘The Fall’, half-time switch up ‘False Alarm’ as well as even more material to be unleashed, this LP will catapult you head first into their greatest output yet.

Having played some of the world’s biggest stages, including EDC, London’s SW4, Ram’s seminal NYE event and UKF’s Sea Dance Festival, expect another one of music’s most prominent seasons filled with new music from Calyx & Teebee. ‘1X1’ is set to make history, which isn’t surprising after hitting millions of streams with their previous singles and detonating dancefloors globally.

Covert – Shiv

The track of the day is from Brooklyn based Covert, a very young multi-genre talent that still doesn’t have the following his sound would suggest. This one is a free download from his SoundCloud that I bagged years ago after I found it through his other more notable track “Depeche-Vouz” (which Neurofunkgrid featured in full) and I have been waiting ever since for Covert to blow up but… Nothing yet. Oh well.

Logistics – Take Me To Another World (feat. Stella Attar)

Buy Here: https://Logistics.lnk.to/ElectricSunyb

As one of the pioneers of the signature Hospital Records sound Logistics already has an impressive succession of albums, EPs, collaborations and remixes in his repertoire. Fortunately for us he’s adding one more to the list with his incredible sixth studio album, ‘Electric Sun’ filled with jungle flavoured rollers, garage-inspired chop-ups, down tempo head-nodders, swirling synths and merciless subs.

Settle inside paradise with ‘Icarus’ – featuring fellow Cambridge connoisseur Hugh Hardie – along with ‘After Dark’ they provide a warm, anthemic wash throughout the LP that contrasts with the equally ethereal yet hypnotic slow dance of ‘Still Life’, featuring Holly Drummond. The refined style in ‘Tell Me True’ proves simplicity really is key; rippling piano and gentle guitar plucks come together to create a first-class future classic.

L Plus – Creature Must Die

Beatport Exclusive: http://bit.ly/TimelapseCreature
iTunes: http://smarturl.it/TECH134

It takes a certain kind of artist to make a successful album. It’s a different prospect from a series of two- or four-track releases. In D&B, it takes a producer whose got a deep musical understanding and a many facets to their style so they can reconfigure to constantly hold our attention. It takes a producer who’s got a story to tell and a journey through which to guide their listeners. Anyone who’s been keeping up with L Plus’s work over the last few years will recognise that he’s one artist who fits that description precisely.

Dissonant pads and reverberant drums back up the eponymous dialogue sample in the intro, building to a stripped-back robot funk bass drop. This is far from being everything that L Plus has to offer in this track, though. The deftly executed builds and riffs, deploying discord to powerfully tension-increasing effect, bind the track together creating a wave of movement which belies the deceptively simple beat and bassline pattern. This is a stepper which is sure to find a home in the arsenal of many discerning selectors.

Shell-Shocked: Ukraine’s Trauma

It’s been two years since pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine broke away from the rest of the country, triggering a war that has killed more than 9,000 people, displaced a million civilians, and left entire towns and villages in ruins.

Ukraine’s government was wholly unprepared for the conflict, and its armed forces had been hollowed out by years of mismanagement even before the fighting began. As a result, Kiev has relied on tens of thousands of inexperienced volunteers to fight the brutal civil war. The country’s healthcare system had little experience dealing with the range of physical and psychological injuries sustained by soldiers and civilians. Once demobilized, soldiers are eligible for a number of benefits, but only if they can obtain their official veteran status. With the process slow and bureaucratic, many have been left struggling to deal with the traumatic aftermath of the conflict.

With no clear end in sight to the fighting, VICE News traveled to the country to investigate the war’s impact on soldiers and civilians, and to see how volunteer groups are stepping up to help.

Note: VICE News wanted to also see how the trauma of the war was being handled by the separatist authorities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, but we were denied access.

Dv2R – The Exclamation Mark

Sorry about the two day absence guys, I didn’t think I had anything left to upload but I was wrong. This track has an interesting story to it. Russian DnB prodigy (who I have featured many times now) Dv2R made this originally as a tune for YSF two years ago. It was even featured on Neurofunkgrid at this time. After going a long time without yet seeing the light of day, Dv2R decided that this was going to be a free download. This is when myself and all other sane onlookers of the SoundCloud page snagged the .mp3 before he took the track down, leaving the NFG preview the only thing on the internet about this tune. This was the case up until the 2015 release of “Third Blood LP” when “The Exclamation Mark” did actually get released on the label it was destined for – with a new mix! So now me and a few other people have this other, older version of this slammer until we “upgrade”. At least now with this upload I am archiving something kind of interesting.

”’Dispositions’ is a piece of me, an insight into my personality. I wanted to create something that represented that and more importantly be an album that people wouldn’t expect.” Emperor, 2016

Having debuted his first Critical release ‘Monolith’ back in 2012 the Emperor name has become synonymous with some of the most breathtaking drum & bass of recent times. Since the ‘Begin EP’ and his collaborative ‘Hello World EP’ with Mejus took the scene by storm, Emperor’s heavyweight approach culminated with the utterly outrageous ‘Into Black EP’ which pushed all the levels to the max. Now ‘Dispostions’ looks set to cement his status at the top of the leader board.

“When I first heard Conor’s music I knew he had the potential to make some special records. His music has that great combination of mood and technique, combined with an ear for that killer sample and a rawness that is lost in a lot of modern production. ‘Dispositions’ as an album showcases all this in style and also his diversity as a producer with his ability to span sub genres with ease.” Kasra 2016
