Landmark ruling for cannabis grower Doede de Jong

Dutch judges do not punish famous ideological cannabis grower

On Thursday the 29th of October, famous Dutch cannabis grower Doede de Jong was found guilty of cultivating cannabis, but without receiving a punishment! A true historic moment for the Dutch and international cannabis communities, of which Cannabis News Network made a report.

While Dutch coffeeshops’ practice of selling cannabis under certain circumstances is tolerated, the way they purchase their stock remains illegal, therefore forcing them to operate within a gray area. This often means coffeeshops have to buy cannabis from criminal growers who prefer quantity over quality.

Because the government does not change their cannabis policy, they maintain a system that encourages criminality, as well as circulation of weed of really bad quality which is a threat to public health.

Doede de Jong is a famous cannabis grower who fights for legal supply of high quality cannabis to coffeeshops. To support his stance, he cultivated cannabis in a greenhouse, using only natural resources and biological nutrition and pesticides. He sold his high quality cannabis to a coffeeshop whose activity of selling cannabis is tolerated.

After being sentenced in 2014, De Jong took his case to the High Court. Said Court acknowledged his motives and settled on this historic ruling.

Royalston – XOR [Med School]

Brilliant tune from Royalston, out now via Med School – buy now: https://medschoolmusic.lnk.to/peopleonthegroundNe

Emerging from the shadows are the thrills and chills of Royalston’s new album the “People on the Ground” LP out 30th October on Med School – the experimental sister label of drum & bass empire Hospital Records. For his second album, Sydney-based DJ and producer has ripped apart the rulebook with fifteen eccentric and exciting electronic tracks.

The “People on the Ground” LP explores through the obscure yet brilliant sounds of one of Sydney’s most talented exports for a haunting and hypnotic take on drum & bass. Title track features the captivating vocals of Hannah Joy and moves through melodic, piano foundations before catapulting into a euphoric whirlwind of sounds and styles making way for mania to come.

There are the sudden, schizophrenic switch-ups of “Give Me the World” and “I Saw the Face of a Person” that highlight Royalston’s unpredictable style. His game of guesswork keeps things exciting and exhilarating throughout with influences of techno, house and trance all enticingly tangled into dirty drums and deep bass. “The Wrath of Mr Sparkles” and “Don’t Give Me Up” are not to be taken lightly, unrelenting and unrestricted to any musical parameters.

Royalston has also enlisted a number of artists to join in the fun and games. Welcoming back Victoria, from pop group MA, cousin and fellow drum & bass producer Pearse Hawkins, Sydney-based singer Emily Harkness and emerging UK hip-hop artist Lyflyk.

When he’s not writing drum & bass Royalston pursues his other passion of illustration, which he’s made full use of in this project, with the intricate detail in his music replicated in the artwork he solely designed.

The “People on the Ground” LP accelerates Royalston from his previous album “OCD”, whilst keeping to his unorthodox approach to production mashing and merging genres into one crazed counterpart.

Taxman – Creepshow

I think this is the first time I have ever uploaded a jump-up tune, but I think this one counts as nasty neurofunk as well with those incredibly sophisticated and appetizing swinging bass sounds. For those new to the Taxman experience, he is a lone musician from Britain who gained notoriety for his jump-up releases on Playaz (this being one of them). “Creepshow” from the EP of the same title (2015) is Taxman’s most recent creation and I think that so far, it is probably the best. Happy Halloween guys!

Weapons Grade is a channel for uploading only the most forward thinking and stomping underground Neurofunk. I will try my best to promote only the truly under-appreciated tunes that go lesser heard. Uploads will probably be daily, or possibly even more frequently. Every track featured here has been purchased from the respective label, and is in 320 kbps (MP3) quality before upload. All artwork in every video is from http://www.wallhaven.cc/ unless otherwise stated! I won’t feature any track on this channel that isn’t advanced Neurofunk and I will never monetize a video. This channel is purely for your entertainment and discovery, and for my hobby. I hope you guys enjoy thoroughly!

If there is a problem with any of the tracks uploaded, please consult with me by my email (found on my channel under “For business enquiries”). I will take necessary measures to make content owners satisfied with the state of their track, whether it be on the channel or not. If you wish to submit a track for possible upload, please send it to me via the same email.

Noisia – End Game

Happy Halloween guys! I won’t be at the computer for actual Halloween so I have chosen to upload two spooky tracks today to compensate. Right off the bat, a highly under-appreciated Noisia tune. This is from way back in the day (2006) on a Virus single called “End Game / Unveil”. Both sides of this single are classics and “Unveil” even features Phace on it. Not much more to say about this one except for maybe that if this song is new to you, you’re lucky to be able to experience it for the first time right now.

Needing little introduction, and having scored a Beatport number one with latest single ‘Shatterdome’, this fresh cut from Audio yet again reinstates his dominance. Slick and standing with fortress-like tightness, these two sonic slabs of bass bear down on you aggressively. Then again, what can you expect, from one of the most resounding names within the genre; even from his very first output?

‘Make it Happen’ is bulking and rolls forward like a freight train. Snapping between breaks and bass that bulges with power, it’s a muscular number which brings another meaning to ‘dancefloor anthem’. Broken up by interjecting sample, frequently pounding loops of distortion and warbling beat patterns pull you deeper and deeper into the mix. Pausing before ascending yet again into all-out chaos, Audio proves his intimidating production standards are upheld with every release.

Instantly recognisable from the vocal snippet, ‘Napalm’ promises to explode on impact. Detonating crowds at festivals this summer, from Prague’s Let it Roll to stages across Europe, it’s a chunky, clunking record which has already caused devastation across the continent. Distorted and with a warbling, low frequency, prepare to be taken by the synapses into drum & bass’ murkiest waters.

Yet again, Audio demonstrates his unbridled capabilities. Gritting his teeth and once again proving a darker edge to the Ram imprint, this presents one more step towards an Audio LP…

Phace & Noisia – Drawback

Phace & Noisia always deliver… TUNE!
Support directly from Critical: https://shop.criticalmusic.com/group/phace-friends

With one of the biggest artist lineups to have ever graced one EP, Critical Music presents Phace, and his friends. The perfect outro for the label’s most successful year yet.

“After finishing my big LP project at the start of the year, I simply wanted to do something different and wanted get into the studio to have fun with people whom I haven’t worked with for a while (like Noisia, Rockwell and Mefjus) or have never worked with before (like Current Value and Culprate). At this point I actually didn’t aim for all our output to be put together for one release. As things came together nicely though, I thought it would be a very cool thing if I put all this collaborative music together into one pack. I have a lot of love and respect for all these producers and consider them also as my friends. So the idea for this EP was born.” Phace 2015

1) Phace & Mefjus – Bang Bang
2) Phace & Noisia – Drawback
3) Phace & Current Value – Wild Thing
4) Phace & Rockwell – Yes
5) Phace & Culprate – Logic Bomb (Digital Bonus Track)
