Mefjus – Eleventh Hour

Ahh yes, Mefjus. A name in Neurofunk that certainly holds controversy. Before this Austrian talent powerhouse started sparking heated debates about whether or not technicality was taking over funk in DnB music, he was putting out some pretty standard (but extremely flame) music. “Eleventh Hour” is certainly technical, but it doesn’t hold up in that sense to Mefjus’ more recent works. “Emulation” LP on Critical (2014) is a good example. It’s an album that you either detest or make plans to marry. Martin Mefjus can make the DAW do things that the creators of the DAW never thought possible, and we are lucky enough to have such a genius in our genre. Anyway, this tune can be found on “Eleventh Hour” EP (2011) on Ammunition.

Weapons Grade is a channel for uploading only the most forward thinking and stomping underground Neurofunk. I will try my best to promote only the truly under-appreciated tunes that go lesser heard. Uploads will probably be daily, or possibly even more frequently. Every track featured here has been purchased from the respective label, and is in 320 kbps (MP3) quality before upload. All artwork in every video is from http://www.wallhaven.cc/ unless otherwise stated! I won’t feature any track on this channel that isn’t advanced Neurofunk and I will never monetize a video. This channel is purely for your entertainment and discovery, and for my hobby. I hope you guys enjoy thoroughly!

If there is a problem with any of the tracks uploaded, please consult with me by my email (found on my channel under “For business enquiries”). I will take necessary measures to make content owners satisfied with the state of their track, whether it be on the channel or not. If you wish to submit a track for possible upload, please send it to me via the same email.

With ADE looming on the horizon, it only seemed apt for Ram to yet again provide the perfect drum and bass entrée for Europe’s premium dance event. Set to bring another stellar line up from their roster, this compilation packed full of exclusives helps to epitomise the imprint’s legacy within dance music. Including brand new cuts, demonstrating the Ram’s longevity, this album plays homage to two decades of output.

Leading you deeper into the dark side of 2015, this year’s Ramsterdam compilation not only pedestals the artists who’ve made such a titanic impact throughout the last ten months, but also the emerging talent from sister label Program and Ram’s newest signees. Whether it’s the old school, growling riddim from Aggressor Bunx, or Calyx & TeeBee’s tell-tale, trembling bassline, each track gives the album a unique vantage point.

Featuring on the collosal track listing is Delta Heavy; an exclusive which relays their elevating, pumping composition, it’s a dancefloor banger sure to detonate any crowd. And Frankee also makes a welcomed return, following the release of his anticipated single ‘Downtown’. ‘Raptor’ is unforgiving, snapped up by different animalistic samples and stridently aggressive – pedestalling Frankee’s unforgiving production standards.

On a totally different vibe, Freek is back with ‘Born Different’, a clanking yet powerful number, one which gears up into LFO-lead chaos with snapping percussion between each break. Brand new music from production outfits Teddy Killerz and Mind Vortex also make a very valuable addition, proving their unbridled talent, with merciless yet complex records that are fierce and gagging to be let loose on Amsterdam’s clubs.

Two of this year’s most resounding tracks from the Ram camp, Bensley’s ‘Aftermath’ and Gerra & Stone’s ‘L.I.E.S.’ have also received revamps, providing two anticipated VIPs already igniting sets worldwide. Loadstar also deliver the goods; brand new heavy-hitter ‘Dune’ demonstrates exactly why they’ve become such revered names across the genre.

So, here’s to another Amsterdam Dance Event. One with a soundtrack provided by one of the most enduring labels, and stellar rosters, that dance music has played host to. And with Ram also holding a night this October, from first listen onwards prepare to be immerse yourself in Ram’s vast musical environment.

Posij – Close Call

Netherlands based EDM superstar of multiple genres is making his debut on my channel with by far one of the sickest tracks I have heard in years. I was surprised to see that nobody had uploaded the full version of this one already. If you somehow don’t know who Posij is, he is a producer of many genres and he focusses the least on Neurofunk sadly. When he does dabble in the 170 BPM range, he manages to get his name on imprints like Critical, Division and Shogun. “Close Call” is from the “28 Hz” EP (2013) on Division.

Weapons Grade is a channel for uploading only the most forward thinking and stomping underground Neurofunk. I will try my best to promote only the truly under-appreciated tunes that go lesser heard. Misanthrop isn’t just about the music; twelve years the producer has spent on the audio and video components of his artistic vision. Taking inspiration from the world’s murkiest corners (which translates through a conundrum of rolling, methodical progression and unapologetic beat patterns) the Hamburg based producer has become infamous.

Combining every aspect of his wide ranging digital skills, his latest ‘Collapse EP’, due to be released on internationally renowned Ram Records, presents you with a multi-platform shock to the senses.

‘Collapse’ begins on a note that’s carried throughout the entire EP. Nastily slick, propelled forward on distorted bass and sliced up metallic hi-hats, it’s diced up by imposing sample snippets; a hulking stack of technicality. A full-frontal opener, don’t expect the following three tracks not to follow its precedent.

Up next is ‘Fragment’, a precarious, angry yet convoluted track that proves Misanthrop’s refusal to take a conventional approach. Filtering through and following the ambush dynamic, stocky reverb pulls you down a shoot of clanking, industrial production that only momentarily allows you to fully absorb its driving force.

‘Rotor’ and ‘Attack’ roll out in quick procession, each providing an even deeper exploration into Misanthrop’s vast production repertoire. Whilst ‘Rotor’, having lined sets over the past twelve months, spins underneath layers of snapping percussion, pulsating subs and blaring kick drum, ‘Attack’ takes a different approach. In your face, obtrusive yet able to lead you onto any dancefloor, it flicks through a higher frequency whilst being underpinned by pumping drum patterns and eventually flipped with a subliminal vocal snippet.

So, making a guest appearance on the Ram imprint, it’s time to immerse yourself in the darkly stooped world of Misanthrop. And if there’s one record to get you ready for a weekend of drum & bass, this is certainly it.
