Around 13,500 kg of illicit drugs went up in flames in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on Tuesday, as the country’s national security agency launched an operation to destroy them.
Nangarhar Police Chief Abdul Raqeeb Mubariz outlined that drugs such as opium, cocaine, heroin and hash had been burned together, as well as some alcoholic beverages.
According to the region’s governor, some 316 people had been arrested and 149 vehicles had been taken into custody this year in relation to the illegal drugs.
